R1 RCM Senior Manager, Disaster Recovery in Chicago, Illinois

The Global Director of Disaster Recovery Governance will be the face of disaster recovery at R1 internally and with customers, vendors, and auditors. This role will manage the enhancement, administration, and maintenance of the global business resiliency management program focusing on IT disaster recovery. The candidate will foster relationships with all levels of management to facilitate the continuous development, socialization, and management of the resiliency program. The role requires a highly collaborative individual with a professional presence, capable of initiating action, and managing change in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Governance

  • Lead and directs the implementation of disaster recovery strategies, policies, procedures, and best practices,

  • Design and implement an enhanced DR oversight infrastructure that is integrated throughout the enterprise,

  • Communicate value-added recommendations to leadership and promotes the value of disaster recovery programs,

  • Benchmark industry best practices and drive continuous improvement for the business continuity, crisis management programs,

  • Establish and monitor performance metrics to determine the effectiveness of the program and to drive program value,

  • Support broader risk management and mitigation delivery in reporting within the Risk Management and Insurance organization.

Program Management

  • Serves as primary Business Resiliency point of contact for live disaster recovery incident identification, escalation, communication, response, and after-action reporting in relation to IT Disaster Recovery scenarios,

  • Leads the development of best-in-class disaster recovery life-cycle activities, these include periodic business impact assessments, plan exercises and remediations, training & awareness initiatives,

  • Partner with a broad range of stakeholders to ensure Disaster Recovery is integrated across the enterprise including IT Development, IT Security, IT Infrastructure, IT Deskside Support, Communications, Operations, Vendor Management, Standardization, Facilities, Legal, Privacy, etc.

  • Maintain communications with IT Infrastructure teams to ensure any material changes continue to meet corporate requirements.

  • Report on a regular basis to key stakeholders including management and executive leadership on key plans, risks, and opportunities,

  • Provide thought leadership in initiating improvements to mitigate risk and developing partnership with clients and vendors to implement changes,

  • Facilitate interdependency mapping and stress testing of key applications, IT processes that support these applications, and IT tools that inform Disaster Recovery actions.

  • Create strong formal and informal networks with cross functional partners to drive engagement and program sustainability,

  • Ensure alignment between Disaster Recovery, IT Security (Incident Response), IT Infrastructure, Application Development, and IT Service Management (Major Incident) programs

  • Support annual SOC 1, SOC 2 and HITRUST compliance reviews of Disaster Recovery controls required for certification

Plan Development

  • Work with key IT, operations, client partners and vendors to design and implement a pro-active real-time disaster recovery response and communication framework that can anticipate, identify, evaluate, and mitigate global risks and other issues that may disrupt business operations

  • Ensure disaster recovery program supports R1’s resiliency for all customers andtimely incorporates company M&A activity. This includes wrapping in or building out plans, including in any IT infrastructure expansions or other material change to the DR environment.

  • Align with stakeholders regarding disaster recovery service levels including DR Tiers, Recovery Time Objectives, Recovery Point objectives, and others

Third Party Management

  • Support coordination of third-party due diligence activities

  • Review and negotiate disaster recovery provisions in new vendor agreements

  • Review and negotiate disaster recovery provisions in existing vendor agreements including following for periodic BC/DR test results, plan updates, etc.

  • Inform and/or manage communication with customers relating to disaster recovery including ongoing collaborative plan enhancement and annual client reviews of plans and testing.

Crisis Response

  • Serve as the Disaster Recovery point person during crisis events and including post-event analysis

  • Support real-time incident/crisis management activities and response as required

Preferred Qualification

  • Extensive experience building and leading a disaster recovery or IT incident management organization in a complex, cross-functional global company or similar experience management consulting,

  • 5 years of disaster recovery experience in a large corporation,

  • Experience with various IT Security control frameworks such as SOC 2 and HITRUST.

  • Ability to apply innovation and creativity into strategic plans and problem solving,

  • Knowledgeable of global regulatory environments, requirements, issues, and trends as they relate to disaster recovery,

  • Experience working with supply chain business continuity requirements and issues,

  • 5+ years of demonstrated leadership experience building cross-organizational consensus,

  • Strong organizational skills, the ability to perform under pressure and to manage multiple priorities with competing demands for resources,

  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure to include but not limited to networking, servers, security related to firewalls and IDM, cloud capabilities,

  • Strong communication skills with proven ability to understand key business and technical concepts, and then effectively communicate these concepts with technical staff, business stakeholders and senior management,

  • Strong collaboration and negotiation skills.

For this US-based position, the base pay range is $83,000.00 - $139,221.00 per year . Individual pay is determined by role, level, location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
